How Does Student Visa in Malta Work?
Whether it is a short-term course or a long-term course, before entering the country, students will have to enroll for a tourist visa which is of 90 days of duration.
The student can apply for a visa extension which is also called a long study ‘D’ student visa, which is issued for a maximum stay of 365 days.

- A student visa is applicable only for those courses that last for more than 3 months. With a Malta student visa, a student will have to study at least 15 hours per week.
- International students can study as well as work in Malta if the courses are for more than 3 months.
- If the international student gets a job through an extended visa in Malta, then the student can apply for a work permit.
- The work permit allows students to work 20 hours a week legally and the minimum wage should be EUR 4.60 per hour.

- Passport with at least two blank pages and copies of the previous visa. The previous visas are valid for at least three months after the returning date.
- A copy of the flight ticket reservation. However, it is not recommended to buy the tickets unless a visa is not obtained.
- Travel medical insurance coverage of a minimum of 30,000 EUR within Malta and the entire Schengen area.
- A visa letter explaining the purpose of visiting visa along with a detailed itinerary.
- A copy of marriage certificate/birth certificate of children/death certificate of a spouse to prove marital/current relationship status.
